This quick and simple card is built around one single image from the Ink Blot Shop set -Winging It. I love this set and have really gotten my mileage out of it. I have used many of the images including the jar for a bunch of cards. It's also a good mix and match set.
This little bee is the cutest isn't she? To build the card I took a 3 1/4 x 5 in panel of Neenah Desert Storm CS. I scored every 1/2 inch. The edges where inked with Distress Oxide in Vintage photo with a little Wild Honey blended in. Then I splattered some white, chocolate and gold acrylic paint. I wanted it to loosely represent a bee hive. I die cut about 21 small hexagons from white CS. They were inked with Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey around the edges (I only inked 7) . I glued 2 additional white die cuts to the inked piece to give stability and dimension. These where glued directly to the panel of Desert Storm CS.... I just eyed balled it.
The Bee from the Wining It stamp set, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink which is copic friendly. I scanned and cut it out using the Brother Scan and Cut but I also had to do a little fussy cutting around the antennas. I then used copic markers to color her in using Y02, Y04, Y15,C1,C3, C6, C9 for the body and B000 for a little highlight on the wings. The cheeks have a little bit of R20 highlighted with a white gel pen. I also used a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pen on the wings which gives a nice sparkle. The dashed trails and the sentiment are also from this set. I also clear heat embossed the sentiment. It was stamped with Versa Fine Black Ink.
The bee was popped up with foam tape and added to the center of the hexagons. The card panel was them mounts onto a 4/14 x 5 1/2 vanilla card base.
And for a final touch I added a pink clay heart.
