Ink Blot Shop| Birthday card using non-birthday products
It's been awhile since I have posted on my blog. Life, job, etc.... you know the drill. I have been creating though and I am happy to say I am now part of the 2023 Ink Blot Shop Design Team. You can expect that me posting on my blog on a more regular basis.
Now onto the show....
This card started with my picking out 2 new to me products I really wanted to use, the Drips and Splats Stencil and Koala Hugs . I always need another birthday card in my stash.
So how to make these work together for a birthday card. The Drips and Splats Stencil looked like drippy cake icing to me. I stenciled the icing in pink inks and then used the other side of the stencil to mask off and fill in the yellow and antique linen ink for the Vanilla cake. I cute along the top icing line and used a corner rounder. Then popped this up on the the card panel to provide some dimension. For the icing I used Ranger Glossy accents and some clay sprinkles from Brutus Monroe.
The Koala's are from Koala Hugs . I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then copic colored. The Koala I used C1, C6, C9 the cheeks and ear I used R20. Boy Koala nose C6, C9 and Girl Koala nose RV02, RV14. I wanted to added something to make them more birthday themed so I found the party hats from Peas on Earth which I think worked perfectly. The hats were colored with V15, V17, BG11,BG25 for the Girl and YG05, YG09, and B03 for the Boy. I fussy cut all the images out and popped them up on the card panel. I used Glossy Accents on the noses.
I still need something to fill the space a bit so I dropped some hearts in from the Playful Pups set. Also used Glossy Accents.
I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Simple Sayings
Then a took the card panel 4 x 5 1/4 and added some ink blending to the edge to frame the cutie Koalas. Popped that up on a top folding A2 card base.
