Simple & Colorful Die Cuts Slimline Cards

Using Inspiration|Rainbow Color Palette|Using Dies Creatively

I had purchased some small house dies a few months back resale from a destash site. I had seen some cards using similar die sets and thought they were pretty and could be used for multiple themes, seasons, occasions, etc. As I typically do, I cut all the houses first and assembled them. This is before I had any concept of the cards I really wanted to create. I cut each of the houses out of multiple colors of cards stock. I then I colored the roofs with copic markers in slightly darker shades.

So what to do with a pile of die cut houses.....

This first card was inspired (very closely) to one posted by Laura Bassen you can see here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CO03EPxnond/?utm_medium=copy_link

The houses where backed in white cardstock.

Houses used by Laura Bassen - My Favorite Things Right at home dies

The stitched white rectangle was cut from White Card stock using the Mama Elephant Slim Line card Basics set. The edges where Inked with tumbled glass Distress Oxide Ink.

Grass- Mama elephant slim line card basics set (Grass hill cut from the stitched slimline rectangle) Gina K Lucky Clover CS

Sentiment - Hello- SSS Hex Greetings , Welcome Home- SSS Tiny Words Heat embossed with VersaMark ink and white embossing powder.

The Card Base measures to 8.5 in length X 3.5 in Height (7in cut CS scored and folded at 3.5 in) SSS Fog CS

This next card was inspired by a card share on Jennifer McQuires's Facebook Group - Share Handmade Kindness. Shared by Darcey Turecek. Tried finding her on IG but couldn't find her. I used the die cut houses I completely and assembled in my orginal session.

For the Trees/bushes I used the Cloud die from Mama Elephant offset Rainbow die

I cut these out of 3 different shades of Green CS and layered them behind the house. For the small popped up bushed I cut a few sections off of the clouds and popped them up with foam tape.

The Stitched Rectangle - Mama Elephant Slim Line card Basics set. In Hero Arts Arctic CS

The Sentiment - SSS Park Scene I can't seem to find the link. It may have been a Stamptember collar with Hero Arts

The Card Base measures to 8.5in height X 3.5 in width (7 in cut CS scored and folded at 3.5 in) SSS Fog CS

This last card is similar to the first. I needed to to figure out a design that would work with the houses I had left as well as some of the clouds (aka bushes). I wanted this card to have a different feel but it's created very similarly to the first card shown here.

The stitched blue rectangle was cut from MFT Cornflower CS and inked the edges with Altenew Sapphire ink and Black soot distress oxide using the Mama Elephant Slim Line card Basics set.

Grass- Mama elephant slim line card basics set (Grass hill cut from the stitched slime line rectangle) Gina K Lucky Clover CS

Sentiment- Altenew From Our Home Heat embossed with white embossing powder

Card Base is Gina K Slate CS 8.5 in X 3.5 in (7 in width scored and folded at 3.5 in.)

The night sky was created with a white gel pen and a stardust glitter pen

I hope this helps to inspire you. If you have similar products and see a design you like try to use that as inspiration... just tag the wonderful designers and artists if you post ... let them know they inspired you. They'll be very appreciative.

I love the house cards, it can be used for so many things. However I am always looking for instructions for a house warming card. Great job as always.
