Summer Fun Cards| Cards as Seasonal Decor

Pop-Up Cards| Mix and Match companies to get some great looks that can be displayed for the season

Sorry for so much time going bye inbetween posts. I have been creating but as I mentioned in previous posts I can be a bit of a schizophrenic crafter. I have a lot of ideas ( and products 🙄) rolling around in my head. I tend to do a lot of die cutting or coloring starting these projects but I move on to the next before completing the latter.

I think it allows me to actually sit down eventually and knock out multiple cards without taking the entire day to create a single card because a lot of the time consuming steps have been completed.

I have also been in the process of interviewing and looking for a new job...fingers crossed that will happen soon. 🤞🏼

On June 13th I was part of the #lovewinshop on IG supporting and celebrating the LBGTQA community. I used the Scrappy Tails Slimline Bird House Pop Up die and Neighborhood house Add on die. I use these on all my cards today. I will share that card at the end of this post. Using this die started my wheels turning on the different house scenes that could be created with different items in my stash.

I am sharing two summer/4th of July cards. July 4th is kind of a big deal in my family. I am not sure why but maybe because we are a beach family and that's really the biggest holiday of the summer.

I thought these cards could be used for any occasion in the summer and the recipient could then display the card as part of their summer decor.

This summer house card is my favorite. I am not sure if I will really be able to let it go.

House- Scrappy Tails Slimline Bird House Pop Up die cut from Hero Arts Arctic CS. It's hard to see but I scored the house every 1/2 inch to give a planked house front look.

The roof top is SSS Fog CS.

The Scalloped roof - SSS Scallop Borders

Windows,Doors, flower boxes - Scrappy Tails Neighborhood house Add on die Windows are double layered as well as the door frame. I cut the doors from Gina K Turquoise CS.

Door Knobs- Trinity stamps silver baubles.

Curtains- Die set name unavailable. Cut from Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid 12x12 CS

I had put a piece of acetate behind the card to look like window and then glued the curtains behind that.

Palm Tree - Lawn Fawn Tropical Backdrop. Inked the plan with some darker green ink to give it a little life. The grasses also came from this set.

Sandy Border- Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside borders using the unstitched side cut from Vanilla CS and inked with Distress Walnut stain ink.

Flowers- Spellbinders May 2019 Large die of the month- small flowers in that set

Leaves - Spellbinders June 2019 Large die of the month and also the leaves included in the Neighborhood house add on.

Surfboard - Spellbinders Oct 2018 Large die of the month- Trucking through the Season. Cut in White then inked the outline in Distress Walnuts Stain and inlayed with MFT Mulberry CS and Gina K Sweet Mango CS. I think this pulls in the colors of the curtains to add a real brightness.

Sentiment - The Greetery Opposites attract - stamped in Versa Fine Onyx Black and Heat embossed with clear embossing powder

Banners- This detail was partial inspiration for the summer card ideas. I made this 3D country market from SVGcuts and added extra banners to it. I keep it out all summer. I figured I could resize the banner to hang from the windows of these cards.

The windows are about 1 inch wide so I pulled up the Country Market SVG file and pulled out the 3 pieces from the Red, White, and blue pages. I put them on a new page and grouped them- center align them vertically before grouping. This allows you to resize all the pieces at once, proportionately. Keep the box checked to resize width and height together but made the width of the grouping to1.1 inch so the largest red piece was 1.1 inch and all the rest of the pieces sized accordingly.

I did the same thing for the Banner under the half moon window but sized the grouping to a 1.32 in width.

Once that was done I ungrouped them and moved them to separate areas of the cutting mat and copied and pasted them so I could cut them out all at once with the right color cardstock. One other note on the blue semi circle I further broke that apart and removed the stars in the file before copying this piece and cutting it out. The stars were too small to cut correctly. I used a starry backdrop die to put the stars on the banners.

The second card was created similar but with a more traditional look. It reminds me of the old historic homes in our town center in Bucks County, PA.

House- Scrappy Tails Slimline Bird House Pop Up die cut from White CS and stenciled with a Brick Stencil using Fired Brick, Weather wood, and Black soot Distress Oxides. The stencil was smaller than the slimline length of the house so I stenciled the top and then carefully moved the stencil down and lined up the pattern so it looked continuous.

The roof line was die cut in Gina K Moonlit Fog.

Windows,Doors, flower boxes - Scrappy Tails Neighborhood house Add on die Windows. This time I did the windows in Black. The door frame was cut with SSS Fog CS and the door was C9 Cranberry CS.

Shrubs in the pots - Altenew From our home mini delight set - used the tree die. The pots made from the flower box die in the Neighborhood house add on just cut to size.

Sentiment- Honey Bee Stamps Big Pickup Cab - I thought the sentiment was generic enough I could stamp the back for any occasion I needed.

Lanterns - Lawn Fawn Mushroom House Die. Cut in rose gold CS and backed in Yellow CS. This detail made me a little giddy... I know ... dork. The lights just where the perfect scale.

Curtains- Die set name unavailable. I just used a patterned Navy Polka dot CS.

Flowers- Spellbinders May 2019 Large die of the month- small flowers in that set

Leaves - Spellbinders June 2019 Large die of the month and also the leaves included in the Neighborhood house add on.

Banners- see details in the above card summary

The last card is really a bonus card I have included. This card was for Pride Month as part of the #LoveWinsHop on IG from June 12-16th or 17th.

The house was made from strips of CS in the LGBTQA flag.

I cut the strips using the Pinkfresh A2 Strips die. I played them our first on copy paper then backed it with WS CS.

Flowers were from Scrappy Tails Neighborhood house Add on die.

Shrubs in the pots - Altenew From our home mini delight set - used the tree die. The pots made from the flower box die in the Neighborhood house add on just cut to size.

Sentiment- Altenew Sentiment strips 2

Inside sentiment- Pinkfresh Modern layered florals

Back sentiment - SSS XL Greetings 2

I wanted to make a card that sends the message everyone is welcomed, loved and celebrated in this house.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I created the details for these cards. I have a lot of ideas for using this die set for Halloween and Christmas. Enjoy your July 4th holiday!!!
