Honey Bee Stamps|Adding realistic touched to dies cuts|Using Patterned Paper
I seem to be in a die cut card groove lately. I think maybe it's because I can sit and "create" cutting out all the pieces when I don't have very good creative mojo. I had a lot of fun creating a lot of yummy embellishments for these birthday cards. They are all created very similarly so I will give you a few tips on the different elements of each.
These 5x7 cards where created 2 sets from Honey Bee Stamps -Honey Cuts Cookie Sheet and Baked with Love. Many of the other adds I already had in my stash.
I made this card for my daughters' 22nd birthday.
The 22 was made from SSS birthday numbers. Stamped with Versa Mark on Vanilla CS with white heat embossing powder. I used some brushed corduroy distress ink on the edges to give it a more baked look.
Cookie Sheet - I used a matte silver paper from Michael's recollections. The have gotten in some good quality specialty papers and 120lb CS which is very inexpensive. I baked the cookie sheet with another white layer so it did not sit flat on the card. I cut a piece of vellum and used a corner rounder to look like parchment paper and glued it down behind the cookies.
The cookies are from the same Honey Cuts Cookie Sheet set. I cut the scalloped and rounded pieces many times for each shape. I used the small circle, star & heart on to cut out the middles of a number of pieces. I lined them up before die cutting each time to make sure the middle was cut out in the same place each time. For the sandwich cookies I layered two bottom scalloped pieces and two top pieces. inked the edges to give it a sugar cookie look. The middles where cut from colored fun foam. then I used either glossy accents or colored tonic novo drops to fill in the cut outs to give the icing a more realistic look.
For the heart sandwich on the left I took the top die cut heart and laid it into my versa mark ink then with my fingers I sprinkled white and sparkle embossing powder and heated it to look like sugar.
For the circle sandwich cookie I used a dark brown CS from the recollections neutrals pack of 120 lb. CS. layered the same as the heart sandwich cookie. On the top I used White novo drops for the icing and Brutus Monroe sprinkles which I can seems to find so I have linked another option.
For the heart cookie on the right I stacked the scallop 3 times and used pink fun foam. I coated with glossy accents and topped with the sprinkles. If you don't want a glossy sheen you could use ranger multi medium matte to attach the sprinkles.
Sentiment - Baked with Love heat embossed in white and cut out using the coordinating die.
The Spatula was paper pieced on a white CS die cut.
Oven mitts came from an SVG cuts file the mitten box from Santa's sweets. I took the box front of the mitten shrunk it down and then made a copy and mirror image.
... Ok so a lot of explanation here. For the next two cards I will keep it shorter as they where created with generally the same supplies and techniques.

Chocolate iced cookie on the spatula- I used White novo drops for the icing. Then I let that set before using pink & orange colored drops for additional icing color. You need to let the base color dry before laying on another color or they start to meld together.
Pastry Bag- from Baked with Love stamped on vellum and heat embossed in white. Cut out with coordinating die. I cut a second vellum piece and a tip from mirror silver CS.
I put tonic novo drops in Carnation pink in between the stamped and blank vellum pastry bags to look like icing.
These where fun to make and the sets have a lot of versatility for holidays. I will be back later this month with some Christmas versions!
