I had a friend coming over who wanted to start cardmaking and I was trying to figure out the best beginner project that had impact but uses products that are in a moderate price point. I love stencils and even better a layering stencil. I had bought the Garden Path Stencil Pack Bundle during Concord and 9th Annual sale... I think January or February. It's a great layering set that has a sentiment stamp set that goes with it. It's perfect because you can have a few different cards for different occasions and there are also was to step up the cards that are pretty beginner friendly.

Fore these cards I tried a couple of different color combinations and changed of the sentiments. Some where just stamped with black ink and some I used white or gold embossing powder. I also concentrated my ink blending more heavily at the flower centers to give some depth. I added gems to some of the flower middles and on others I used Lisa Horton interference ink on the background layer for bold color and some shimmer. For all the cards I stenciled the flowers a second time and fussy cut them out. I then popped them up layering on top of the same image to give a more dimensional and full look. They were a great beginner friendly project that does not look beginner basic.
