Christmas in July|Easy Foiled Cards

Decofoil Transfer Gel |Laminator| Glimmer Paste |Erin Lee Creative Stencil

Trying to get a few Christmas cards done during the Christmas in July push. As usual I had the foiled and glimmered (😊) these backgrounds months ago with this basic card design in mind. But I have creative ADHD and never fully completed the cards until now. All the cards where basically created the same way I will describe the process and list and link some of the specific products used under each card.

Each card started with a lighter colored card stock and I ink blended the edges of each with a darker shade of ink using distress oxides. I need to get better at listing the specific CS and ink colors but this is really more about using the technique or product vs. duplicating the card. So you can pull similar colors from your stash.

Once the inks on the backgrounds where dry I used the Erin Lee Creative Nordic Stencil which now does not look to be available on her shop. But shop your stash for patterned stencils. I taped the stencil down and spread Decofolio Transfer Gel over the stencil using a dollar tree palette knife/ spatula and then smoothed it out using a Dollar tree Baking/pastry cutter (much cheaper then the stencil pal and does the trick).

Once they the transfer gel was dry I took a complimentary color of foil and laid it pretty side up over the card panel. I set that in between a piece of parchment and then ran it through my laminator. You should turn on your laminator about 10 minutes before you run your card through to ensure that it is hot enough. Then peel the sheet away and you should have a nice clean result. If there are excess foil areas you can use a mono sand eraser to remove.

I heat embossed a sentiment on vellum from the Hero Arts Christmas Messages (You can find at JoAnn's as well). I die cut the wreath using the Pink Fresh Leafy Circle in a glitter and metaillic card stock. I used a die cut ribbon on the bottom of each wreath. The card panel was matted on a complimentary mirror CS but I made sure to cut some pieces out of the middle as not to waste it before I mounted.
